1. Agreement to Terms

By accessing and using the services of Subtle Savings Car Rental ("Company," "we," "our," or "us"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service and all applicable laws and regulations. If you do not agree with any of these terms, you are prohibited from using our services.

2. Rental Requirements

Age Requirements

  • Minimum age: 21 years old
  • Drivers aged 21-24 may be subject to additional fees
  • Maximum age: 75 years old

Driver's License

  • Valid UK driving license required
  • International driving permits accepted for foreign visitors
  • License must be held for at least 2 years
  • No major violations in the past 3 years

Identification and Payment

  • Valid government-issued photo identification required
  • Major credit card in the renter's name required
  • Debit cards accepted with additional verification
  • Security deposit required at time of rental

3. Rental Terms and Conditions

Rental Period

Rental periods begin and end at the times specified in your rental agreement. Late returns may result in additional charges calculated on an hourly or daily basis.

Vehicle Use Restrictions

Vehicles may only be used for lawful purposes and within the United Kingdom unless otherwise agreed. Prohibited uses include:

  • Racing, rallying, or competitive driving events
  • Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs
  • Transporting hazardous materials
  • Use as a taxi or for commercial transport
  • Off-road driving (unless specifically authorized)
  • Towing without prior authorization

Mileage and Fuel

  • Unlimited mileage included in standard rentals
  • Long-term rentals may have specific mileage terms
  • Vehicle must be returned with the same fuel level as pickup
  • Refueling charges apply if returned with less fuel

4. Insurance and Liability

Insurance Coverage

All rental vehicles include basic insurance coverage as required by UK law. Additional coverage options are available:

  • Collision Damage Waiver (CDW)
  • Theft Protection
  • Personal Accident Insurance
  • Extended Roadside Assistance

Renter Liability

Renters are responsible for:

  • Damage to the vehicle during the rental period
  • Traffic violations and fines incurred
  • Theft or loss of the vehicle due to negligence
  • Costs associated with prohibited use

5. Fees and Charges

Rental Rates

Rental rates are quoted per day and include VAT. Rates may vary based on:

  • Vehicle category and demand
  • Rental duration
  • Seasonal variations
  • Special promotions

Additional Fees

Additional charges may apply for:

  • Young driver surcharge (ages 21-24)
  • Additional drivers
  • GPS navigation systems
  • Child safety seats
  • One-way rentals
  • Airport pickup/delivery
  • Out-of-hours service

6. Reservations and Cancellations

Reservations

  • Reservations require a valid credit card for guarantee
  • Rates are subject to availability and confirmation
  • Pre-payment may be required for certain bookings

Cancellation Policy

  • Free cancellation up to 24 hours before pickup
  • Cancellations within 24 hours may incur charges
  • No-shows will be charged the full rental amount
  • Special event bookings may have different terms

7. Vehicle Condition and Maintenance

Pre-Rental Inspection

Customers must inspect the vehicle before departure and report any existing damage. Failure to report pre-existing damage may result in charges for such damage.

Maintenance and Breakdowns

  • 24/7 roadside assistance included
  • Customers must not attempt repairs themselves
  • Unauthorized repairs will not be reimbursed
  • Replacement vehicle provided for mechanical failures

8. Data Protection and Privacy

We collect and process personal information in accordance with our Privacy Policy and applicable data protection laws. By using our services, you consent to such collection and processing.

9. Limitation of Liability

Our liability is limited to the maximum extent permitted by law. We are not liable for:

  • Indirect, consequential, or punitive damages
  • Lost profits or business interruption
  • Personal property left in vehicles
  • Delays caused by circumstances beyond our control

10. Dispute Resolution

Any disputes arising from these terms shall be resolved through:

  1. Good faith negotiation
  2. Mediation if negotiation fails
  3. UK courts if other methods are unsuccessful

11. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any legal proceedings shall be conducted in the courts of England and Wales.

12. Changes to Terms

We reserve the right to modify these terms at any time. Changes will be effective immediately upon posting on our website. Continued use of our services constitutes acceptance of modified terms.
